Extraordinary Educational Experiences in Dance
Customized Dance Master Classes
Available in all disciplines: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Ballet. Each program is 2 hours in length with extra time allotted for career anecdotes and a student Q & A. Your featured artist will customize each session by contacting you directly to discuss the goals and objectives of the group, in advance of your tour.
The Audition Process
Just how do you get to be a member of a Broadway cast? What are you expected to do at an audition? What is the process all about and how do you prepare? Students get an inside look at how current Broadway stars get their parts. Two wonderful and charismatic Broadway veterans, with the help of their vocal coach and accompanist, will present an exciting song and dance hour illustrating the depth of their talents and their personal approach to important auditions.
A Day in the Life of a Professional Dancer
“Behind the lights, glamour and fame, it’s not who you know but what you know!” Lots of hard work, determination, resiliency and an “I can do it!” attitude are the fundamentals of a successful career in the competitive world of dance. Experience a full day of dance, studying with five of New York’s most accomplished artists in the disciplines of ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and tap.
Meet-The-Artist Dance Workshop
Experience a 2-hour Customized Dance Master Class with a principal member from one of the city’s finest dance companies or a current leading Broadway dancer. This program will be tailored to meet the needs of your group when you speak directly with the featured artist prior to your trip.
Broadway Bound
Students learn about planning for a career on Broadway. The guest speaker is chosen by your group from among the following: a cast member from one of Broadway’s current hits, a member of the creative team of a current show, a leading NYC casting director, or a company manager or technical director from a current show.
Broadway Song & Dance
Groups get into the Broadway “state-of-mind” during this 2-hour clinic, where they learn an authentic Broadway Song and Dance combination from a Broadway “triple threat” (dancer, actor, singer) and a professional New York City vocal coach. The group rehearses and perfects the vocals and choreography to a classic Broadway routine.
The Business of Show Business
Experience an hour-long workshop with three leading Broadway dancers. This session features exhilarating private performances, personal “success stories”, backstage anecdotes, and memorable career moments in the lives of these Broadway Professionals. Audience participation is an integral part of this program.
Private After-Show Broadway Cast Party
The show may be over but the night has just begun! Forget waiting around at the stage door – instead have the stars come out to meet you! Experience this truly once in a lifetime experience as you mix and mingle with the individuals who bring Broadway to life! Enjoy an hour-long party (11pm – 12 Midnight) in the reserved, private area of a fun midtown restaurant. Snacks and refreshments or a light dinner will be served. We will arrange for one cast member per every 15 students. This program can also be arranged as a pre-theater cast party that includes dinner.
“I Want to Be a Rockette” Dance Workshop
Any day can be Christmas when you join a Radio City Music Hall Rockette, up close and personal, as she hosts a two-hour dance workshop focusing on the styles and techniques that have made the Rockettes a true American treasure and the envy of every aspiring young dancer. Available throughout the year.
The Nutcracker: A Balanchine Ballet Workshop
In a behind-the-scenes studio close to Lincoln Center, dance students work with a soloist from the New York City ballet on a scene from Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. The featured artist will share secrets of his/her life with one of New York’s most treasured companies, as well as backstage anecdotes about performing in this holiday classic. This enchanting two-hour dance experience, enhanced with live piano accompaniment of Tchaikovsky’s timeless music, provides a memorable and privileged study experience for dance students of all levels.
